Omar has played a pivotal role in securing over $4 million in mitigation funding to address quality-of-life concerns in low-wealth communities. He has led efforts to establish the only Community Land Trust in the City of North Charleston, negotiated $4 million in mitigation with Palmetto Railways, and facilitated the first-ever Community Benefits Agreement between a local community and a warehouse developer. A recognized leader in mitigation, Citizen Science, and Community Development strategies, Omar is highly sought after to present at conferences, colleges, and universities across the country.
