Burrell Poe is the Director of the Goldin Institute’s Chicago Peace Fellows Mutual Aid program where he brings people together in a community of practice—learning and working collaboratively to promote peace at a grassroots level. He has been actively involved in his West Side of Chicago community since the age of 10. As a U.S. Army veteran, Burrell has extensive experience as a nonviolence trainer, community organizer, and workshop facilitator. He is passionate about creating social and environmental justice around the world and has strengthened peacebuilding, compassion, and reconciliation efforts from Chicago to Colombia and Uganda. He practically lives on his bicycle and is an enthusiastic composter.
